Our next door neighbor came over the other day to examine what we were doing and the first question out of his mouth was "Are you guys preparing for World War 1?" That is definitely how our backyard looks right now on a slightly smaller scale. Along with our yard, if you have been to our house you have seen our lovely creek (please pronounce "crick") on the side of our house. We love having our creek but we didn't realize that having a creek would bring such wildlife to our yard. We have a new family of ducks that likes to hang out there. Here are a couple of pictures of our little family in their growing stages.
We can't forget the many, many snakes, and something that we found out is called a vole. I have faithfully been trying to get a picture for you to see these disgusting things but they are really fast! In the winter everyone has tracks through all their grass as if snakes just go over the same pattern over and over but it is actually from these voles eating the grass in squiggly patterns. They are disgusting!

On a prettier note we have just gotten our new entertainment center! We have had a large one for quite some time that did not fit our TV. Thank you Heather and Brian, it has been wonderful and is ready for you when you are. It has taken awhile for Kory and I to agree on an entertainment center and then we saw it...in Boise Idaho. Of course we had no way to get it from Idaho and since Kory isn't an impulse buyer and had to think on it for awhile we decided to wait. Then we found out this same store was in Logan. They happened to have the same one here but it was the wrong color and they said they couldn't order us in the right one until the end of the year. Yeah right!!! We started our search again. Then on Thursday they called us and said never mind, we will get it here for you by Saturday if you still want it. We were so excited!!! And it looks absolutely wonderful!
Well that is our life in a nutshell right now. And of course a fond farewell from our cute little dog who has become accustomed to always sitting in the window.

Your yard is very rocky! I can vouch for that. I wouldn't want to dig little trenches in it. Your dog is still silly and I feel loved because she loves me almost as much as she loves you. ;)
Excellent blog. I love all the info and pictures. I so remember derocking a huge yard. The grass does grow around the rocks but you could stub your toe if they are too big. I've never heard of a vole. Can you trap them? They look like mice. Maybe some DECON would work. I LOVE THE DUCKS. SO CUTE!!!!! Don't let them eat the DECON or Buster.
I have been wondering what you two were up to. I hate projects. Just looking at your yard gives me a sick feeling. I hope the entertainment center isn't in the way. I wish I could take it right now. I wish that with all my heart because that would mean that we had sold this dang place. Check your email.
It looks SSOOO good! You guys are awesome. So, are you still planning on painting one of the walls in the living room?
I can't believe you have a creeeek! (Sorry, I can't bring myself to say crick... :) ha ha)That is so awesome! And I love the new entertainment center! Cute!
